How it started
Jason Davis envisioned a program designed specifically for exercisers with intellectual disabilities, in his words,
“My father is my greatest hero and someone that I look up to. In 2008, after a traumatic accident resulting in the removal of his right leg, my father continued to push to improve himself. After watching some of his struggles and his options limited, I wanted to improve the life of his and others like him. I then started working with Special Olympics and the athletes. Watching them put everything they had into their sports or events they were participating, I wanted to continue to improve the health of those with disabilities.”
The vision became a reality when a mutual friend introduced Jason to Emerge owners Angie and Matt Pirtle who put into motion making Emerge EveryOne a real, working fitness program.
Thanks to a wonderful staff of Emerge and DASA trainers, and the financial support of Andrews Hugs, the inaugural classes began in November 2017.
